Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeira won't argue that point. Less than a week after helping the Yankees win the World Series, they were named yesterday as AL Gold Glove winners at shortstop and first base, respectively.
"I've said it time and time again: Playing championship-caliber baseball starts with pitching and defense," said Jeter, who won his fourth Gold Glove.
"Those two components were certainly the foundation of our success in 2009."
Teixeira, who won his third Gold Glove, became the first Yankees first baseman to win the award since Don Mattingly took four straight from 1991-94. Continue
