Chien-Ming Wang is shut down until after the All-Star break, meaning his stint on the disabled list with a strained right shoulder will last much longer than the 15-day minimum.
Joe Girardi said Wang, who left Saturday's start after 51/3 innings with the injury, will not throw a ball until at least July 17, when the team reconvenes after the four-day break. "We don't know exactly how he's going to respond to 12 days off and then, once he starts playing catch, how he'll respond to that," he said.
