The Yankees are cautiously optimistic that Mariano Rivera will be ready for the start of the season following Tuesday's shoulder surgery, but GM Brian Cashman warns that until the closer is back on the mound, there are no guarantees.
Rivera underwent a procedure to remove calcification from a joint in his right shoulder Tuesday, a problem that had plagued him for much of the season. The surgery was performed by Dr. David Altchek, the Mets' team physician who also did Jorge Posada's shoulder surgery in July. Continue
