The last home stand at Yankee Stadium was supposed to be about nostalgia and pennant fever. But the opener of a day-night doubleheader Saturday, which kicked off the final 10 games in the ballpark's history, was rife with boos, bungling and bad baseball as the lifeless Yankees suffered a dismal 7-1 loss to the first-place Rays.
The nightcap was different and certainly had more sizzle for home fans. Ultimately, though, it was a meaningless victory that did nothing more than lop off another game from the schedule of a team that has little hope of reaching the postseason. Continue
